Anonymous Donation Brings Books to Northern Glenn County Second Graders

An extraordinary act of generosity has brought the joy of reading to second graders across northern Glenn County. Thanks to a donation from an anonymous Orland Rotary member, every second grader in the region has been given the opportunity to select books to call their own. This remarkable contribution allotted $20 per student for book purchases, ensuring that children have access to literature that sparks their imagination and fosters a lifelong love of reading.

Schools throughout Glenn County implemented creative ways to distribute the books. At some sites, students were provided with vouchers to spend at their school’s book fairs, allowing them to choose titles that resonate with their interests. Participating schools included Mill Street, Lake, Capay, Plaza, and William Finch, all of which embraced this initiative with enthusiasm and dedication.

The donor’s hope is clear: that every child develops a love for reading. This heartfelt motivation was the driving force behind the donation, aiming to inspire young minds and nurture the educational growth of children in the community.

This act of kindness highlights the power of community support in shaping the future of education and literacy. The schools and students are deeply grateful for this impactful gesture that will leave a lasting legacy in the lives of many young readers.
